WHAT IS IT WE DO? | We practice Shorin-ryu Karate and Okinawan Kobudo (weapons).
Simply put, Shorin-ryu is the Okinawan karate style on which at least 80% of the world's karate is now based. The modern popular Japanese styles of Shotokan, Wado-ryu, and indeed much of Shito-ryu are all based on the older Shorin-ryu forms exported to mainland Japan from Okinawa. There are many different Shorin-ryu "schools" each developed around the teachings of individual Masters. We practice in the Kyan "school" or lineage based on the karate and bojutsu forms transmitted by Kyan Chotoku. | 
| KARATE STYLE
Primarily, we practice the Joshinmon Shorin-ryu versions of Kyan kata, along with the Okinawan base forms common to Shorin-ryu and Goju-ryu styles: Fukyugata ichi and ni. We also reference the kata of other Kyan "schools", Seibukan and Shorin-ji for training purposes, as well as drills used in Goju-ryu. |

| KOBUDO STYLE
Along with the Kyan-lineage bojutsu kata "Tokumine-no-kun" we also study weapons in the Matayoshi system of Okinawan Kobudo.
